It’s hard to know the value of a coin sight-unseen by one of our numismatists. With coins, even the smallest characteristics or factors may significantly affect value. For this reason, one of our numismatists must see the piece or collection to provide an accurate appraisal.
You may obtain a general idea of a coin’s potential value, as well as learning its mintage and some historical detail, by referring to The Official Red Book, a Whitman publication.
This reference source, updated annually, can typically be found in local libraries; you may also purchase it from local book stores.
We don’t recommend cleaning coins. Even the gentlest attempt to clean a coin will likely damage the surface and change the color of the metal, most often seriously affecting its value. Although the damage or change may not seem apparent, a trained numismatist or knowledgeable collector will be able to detect the cleaning.
There are several grading services where you can have your coins/currency certified. Gold Pro is an authorized dealer with all the major grading companies, and you can have your coins/currency certified through us. We will help you screen your coins/currency and select the appropriate submission tiers, package your coins/currency for safe shipment, and assist in determining insurance values so that they’re protected against loss in shipping. Alternatively, you can choose to pay for a membership with one of the grading services, which allows you to send your coins/currency directly to them for certification.
In some cases, the grading fees involved will make certification an impractical choice. However, as long as the value of your coin supports it, there can be several benefits to third-party certification. In addition to confirming the authenticity of the piece, a professional numismatist will be able to determine its grade or condition using recognized industry standards accurately. Though some grading inconsistencies are unavoidable, since personal judgment is still a factor, experienced coin collectors will have greater confidence in the professionally certified grade—most often giving your coin or currency more excellent value.
How should I store my coin collection?
Several different types of books and holders will serve well for coin storage- look for some of the better brands offering more excellent protection against surface discoloration. Avoid types of holders using staples, which can easily scratch your coins. Currency should always be stored flat in acid-free or archival-type holders. Finally, be sure to save your collection in a dry environment.
Gold Pro does buy coins. Preliminarily, we’ll ask you to provide as much information as possible about your currency (s) including date, denomination, mintmark and, if applicable, grading service and grade. We’ll also ask you to email pictures. That information will allow us to give you an estimate of the price we would pay, but we won’t be able to provide a firm offer until we examine the coin(s) in hand. If our introductory offer is acceptable to you, we’ll ask you to ship the coin(s) to us, including a packing list detailing the items enclosed and providing your name, address, and telephone number.
We’ll contact you when the shipment is received and will let you know at that time, how long our evaluation will take (typically 3-5 business days, though more extensive collections may take longer).
Does Gold Pro accept trades?

Due to the large number of losses and delays we experienced when shipping outside of the U.S., we no longer ship internationally.
Orders of $2000 or more will be shipped via USPS Priority Express mail; all others are sent by USPS First Class mail. All shipments are insured, and most will require a signature for delivery. Gold Pro offers free shipping on all orders; if you choose to upgrade to Priority Express for a law that would not otherwise qualify for expedited shipping, a reasonable fee will be charged, as noted on your order page.
Can I have an order shipped to an address other than my billing address?
For your protection and ours, we’re not able to ship to an address other than your billing address.
All sales are subject to product availability. While every precaution is taken to ensure accuracy in titles, descriptions, and prices, errors may occur from time to time. In those cases, Gold Pro reserves the right to make all necessary adjustments. The buyer will be contacted if an order contains any such inaccuracies.
Title to all merchandise shall remain with Seller until Seller has received payment. A check shall not constitute payment until the said check has cleared through normal banking channels.
Items may be returned for credit or refund if postmarked within 14 days of receipt and only if not damaged or removed from original encapsulation. Please package all returns securely, including a copy of your invoice or other documentation identifying the shipment as a return, and insure the shipment; upon receipt, Gold Pro will issue a refund within two business days.
